Last Saturday Hull City were run over by Wayne Rooney singlehandedly as Manchester United defeated the Tigers 4-0 at Old Trafford. Rooney scored all four of United's goals on the day with his first coming in the eighth minute. Hull remained in the match throughout as the 1-0 score line held until the final 10 minutes of the game. Rooney struck three times after the 80th minute to give United a comfortable looking 4-0 win. Rooney scored in the 82nd, 86th, and third minute of stoppage time to hand Hull a heavy defeat. Wolverhampton used a valiant defensive effort to force a 0-0 draw at the Molineux during the midweek against Liverpool. Both sides missed early opportunities to score and the match ended goalless as the two sides split the points. The point was crucial for Wolves as it kept them out of the relegation zone and level on points with now 18th place Burnley.

Hull City's newest signing, Egyptian striker Amr Zaki, appears ready to make his Premier League debut with the Tigers this weekend against Wolverhampton. Zaki has been signed on loan by Hull City for the remainder of the season and will be immediately thrust into the middle of a tense relegation battle. Saturday's match between 19th place Hull City and 17th place Wolves could have a huge impact on the relegation fight in the Premier League. Portsmouth appears certain to drop into the Championship, but aside from Pompey several teams are close to the drop zone. Only four points separate 19th place Hull City from 13th place Sunderland and Wolves are just one point ahead of Hull City.
