Wolverhampton Wanderers will play host to Hull City on Saturday in a matchup of clubs near the bottom of the table in the early part of the season. Both clubs sit near the bottom of the Barclay's Premier League, having gained three points from three games. The Wolves come into this weekend's game after a tough loss on the road against Manchester City. Wolves were able to keep the game close but never able to notch a goal of their own, falling 1-0 to a City side with a great deal more talent. Hull City's last outing in the Premier League was a victory last weekend over Bolton at home. Hull City was in action at the midweek playing a second round Carling Cup fixture against Southend United. City was up 2-0 before Southend pulled a goal back, but a late strike from Geovanni secured a 3-1 victory. Hull City advance to the third round of the Carling Cup.

Hull City's newest face, American international striker Jozy Altidore, has wasted little time making an impression with his new squad. Altidore debuted last weekend for Hull, scoring the winning goal over Bolton in City's 1-0 victory. Altidore was again a factor in the midweek, scoring the second goal against Southend that turned out to be the game winner. Hull City is also in the process of trying to extend the contract of Brazilian playmaker Geovanni whose contract is up at the end of the season. Geovanni had a mixed debut with the club last year, but both the player and manager Phil Brown believe Geovanni is a good fit with Hull and should remain.

Hull City, new to the Premier League last season, and Wolverhampton, promoted this season, will both be looking for the full three points to move up in the standings and stay away from the bottom. Though the season is long, starting it in the cellar is never useful.
