The first fixture of the Barclay's Premier League on Sunday will see Manchester City travel south to face off with Portsmouth. Sunday's fixture will be a matchup of teams travelling in opposite directions in the Premier League. City, backed by big spending, is seeking a spot in the top four and Portsmouth are still seeking their first points of the season. Kick off will be at 13:30 local time at Fratton Park in Portsmouth, UK.
Portsmouth come into the match without a point from three games played so far. Pompey is struggling up and down the pitch but is having significant trouble finding the back of the net. Portsmouth's last Premier League outing was a 4-1 loss at Arsenal last weekend. Manchester City come in with two wins from two games and has not allowed a goal against this season. City's last Premier League outing was a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton last weekend at home.
Manchester City was involved in Carling Cup action in the midweek, facing Crystal Palace in the second round. City avoided an early exit with a 2-0 win at Selhurst Park. Portsmouth spent the week bolstering their roster in hopes of climbing from the bottom of the table. Jamie O'hara joined Pompey on loan until January after signing a new contract with Tottenham who immediately loaned him out. O'hara's deal is extendable until the end of the season. 22 year old German midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng also made the switch from Tottenham to Portsmouth on a permanent basis.
Manchester City will be looking for the full three points in order to keep pace with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham atop the table. Portsmouth need a victory or draw just to get some points on the table.
