Manchester City and Arsenal will have to come back from the international break ready to go when they clash on Saturday. In a matchup of a big money side hoping to break up the "Big Four", City will host Arsenal at the City of Manchester Stadium this Saturday. Kickoff is at 15:00 local time in Manchester, UK. Game is live at Canal+ Sport Denmark.
Arsenal traveled to Manchester the weekend before the international break and left with a bad taste in their mouth. The Gunners, riding high to start the season, held a 1-0 lead at Old Trafford over Man U at halftime, only to lose the game on an own goal. Arsenal fell 2-1 and all the questions about the squad that were dismissed after their opening two games returned to the forefront. Manchester City's big summer spending is paying off so far as they are a perfect 3-0-0 to start the season. City's last win before the break was a 1-0 victory on the road against Portsmouth.
After losing several key squad members during the summer off season, Arsenal are still looking for the right combination of players to keep them near the top among their "Big Four" companions. Arsenal learned during the break they will be without the services of defender Johan Djourou for six months after the Swiss international underwent surgery on his left knee. The injury bug has bitten City as well though. Carlos Tevez and Robinho both picked up knocks while on international duty with their respective countries. Tevez suffered a twisted right knee in Argentina's 3-1 loss to Brazil over the weekend. In that same game, Robinho suffered a thigh injury. Tevez is out for sure and Robinho is questionable. City have the benefit of a stable full of healthy strikers and aren't likely to be hampered by the absence of Tevez and Robinho.
This is a pivotal match up for both sides. City spent big in the offseason to try and finish in the top four and pick up a coveted Champions League spot. So far, City's schedule has been very kind. If they want to prove they belong amongst the "Big Four" they need to beat the members of the "Big Four". Arsenal needs a victory to restore faith in their squad and boost morale. More importantly, a loss could leave them floundering in the middle of the table.
