Hull City comes into Saturday's matchup still smarting from a rough outing in the midweek. Bolton has however lost defender Ricardo Gardner to injury for up to a month. Hull City on the other hand, coming off a thumping defeat at the hands of Tottenham, now feels renewed urgency to add striking power to their club. Hull has added American international Jozy Altidore, but delays in his work permit process have meant they must wait for his debut. Several other targets the Tigers had this summer have failed to pan out, leaving Hull in need of some additional firepower.

This match is vital to both clubs. Even though the season is long and just one week old, it is important to get points early on so there is no struggle for points at the end of the season. Hull City, with two games played already, need points desperately, perhaps more so than Bolton.
