Fulham FC will have its top 10 credentials tested on Saturday when Manchester United pays a visit to London in the Barclay's Premier League. Fulham has lost just once in its last 11 league matches and as a result has moved up into the top 10 of the league table, settling in ninth place. The Cottagers had a six match unbeaten streak ended with a loss a month ago, but have since started a new four match unbeaten streak with two wins and two draws. Kickoff between the two is set for 15:00 local time at Craven Cottage in London, England. Game is live from Setanta Sports 1 TV channel.
Fulham kept a four match unbeaten streak alive with a draw last weekend at Turf Moor against Burnley. After a goalless first half Fulham striker Bobby Zamora opened the second half with a fine goal in the 50th minute to put the visitors ahead 1-0. Burnley's Wade Elliot rescued a point for the Clarets within 10 minutes of Zamora's goal, snatching an equaliser in the 59th minute to force a 1-1 draw. Manchester United bounced back from its defeat at the weekend against Aston Villa with an easy victory over Wolverhampton in the midweek. Wolves’ manager Mick McCarthy marched out a squad featuring 10 changes from the side that stole a victory from Tottenham at the weekend. The Red Devils had little trouble dispatching what was essentially Wolves' back up squad. Wayne Rooney opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 30th minute and Nemanja Vidic snagged a goal in the 43rd minute to send United into the break up 2-0. Antonio Valencia finished the scoring with a goal in the 65th minute to guide Manchester United to an easy 3-0 victory.
Manchester United's victory on Tuesday put them atop the Barclay's Premier League summit along with Chelsea for about 24 hours. The Blues were in action on Wednesday and with a victory over Portsmouth re-established their three point lead atop the table. Fulham was in action during the midweek for the final match day of the UEFA Europa League. The Cottagers needed a victory over Swiss side FC Basel to advance to the next round of the tournament. Bobby Zamora struck twice in the three minutes just before halftime to put Fulham ahead 2-0. Zamora struck in the 42nd and 45th minutes to put his side ahead 2-0 at the break. Basel would pull one back from the penalty spot in the 64th. Zoltan Gera restored Fulham's two goal lead with a strike in the 77th minute, but the final moments would provide some drama as Basel again pulled one back with a goal in the 87th minute. The Cottagers would hold on for the 3-2 win however, securing themselves a spot in the final 32 of the Europa League.
Both sides will be looking to collect maximum points on Saturday, with a loss being potentially problematic for either club. A loss for Fulham could see them fall two spots in the league table if Sunderland and Stoke City are victorious. Manchester United could again lose sight of Chelsea if they fall against Fulham and the Blues are victorious on Sunday, extending their lead to six points at the top of the table.
