Watch Chelsea vs Portsmouth Live TV

Chelsea will be looking to get back in the win column as the top club in the Barclay's Premier League hosts the bottom club Portsmouth on Wednesday. After building a five point lead at the top of the league table, the Blues have lost and drawn in their last two matches seeing their lead shrink to three. Portsmouth has seen positive improvement in the past month with a win and a draw under new manager Avram Grant. Pompey remains at the bottom of the league table, but with 11 points now they are just three points behind 18th place West Ham United. Kickoff between the two is set for 19:45 at Stamford Bridge in London, England. Game is live from Canal+ Sport TV channel.

Chelsea was held to a draw at home at the weekend in a six goal thriller against a struggling Everton side. Everton struck first in the 11th minute as a Louis Saha header bounced off the post and went in off the back of Petr Cech. Didier Drogba equalised in the 17th minute for Chelsea before Nicolas Anelka struck in the 23rd to put the Blues ahead 2-1. Chelsea received a shock just before halftime as Yakubu equalised for Everton in the 45th minute. Drogba struck again in the 59th to put Chelsea back in front, but the Blues' poor defending from set pieces would be their undoing as Saha scored again in the 63rd to equalise and force a 3-3 draw. Portsmouth produced a stunning finish this weekend at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland. The Black Cats took an early lead through striker Darren Bent who scored in the 22nd minute to put Sunderland ahead 1-0. The Black Cats appeared headed for a victory until Pompey defender Younes Kaboul equalised three minutes into second half injury time to salvage a draw for Portsmouth. Kaboul's equaliser earned Portsmouth a critical point and earned him a red card for his excessive celebration. Kaboul had been booked earlier in the match, and after taking his shirt off to celebrate, he was shown a second yellow.

Luck was on Chelsea's side this weekend as their lead at the top of the league table grew despite their draw. Manchester United was defeated at Old Trafford by an Aston Villa side that handed the Blues a 2-1 road defeat earlier this season. The loss allowed Chelsea's lead to grow by one point, from two to three. Chelsea appears to have all the right pieces to secure a third Barclay's Premier League title this decade, but their defending from set pieces will need to improve if they are going to succeed. The Blues have now conceded 10 goals in their last four matches. Wednesday's match will mark the return of Avram Grant to Stamford Bridge. Grant took over at Chelsea as manager in September 2007 after Jose Mourinho departed. Under Grant the Blues finished runners-up in the Barclay's Premier League, Carling Cup, and the UEFA Champions League.

Wednesday's fixture is going to be very important to both sides, but Chelsea will face more intense pressure to win than Portsmouth. Pompey is at the bottom of the league table, and though they are improving they are under little pressure to win against the big clubs. Chelsea however will already know Manchester United's result as the Red Devils play Tuesday, and the Blues could find themselves level on points with United when the match kicks off on Wednesday.
