In the lone Football League Championship match on Sunday, Cardiff City will play host to Bristol City in a matchup of early season unbeatens. Both clubs sit in a cluster atop the table with seven points. The match will be played Sunday at 13:15 local time at Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff City comes into the match with an offense that is fire on all cylinders. Cardiff opened the season with a 4-0 victory over Scunthorpe. During the past week they posted a 1-1 draw with Blackpool and a 3-1 win over Plymouth Argyle. Bristol City, while less impressive offensively, are also riding a hot streak at present. Bristol opened the season with a 2-2 draw against Preston North End but in the past week has posted back to back 1-0 victories over Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers.

Both squads come into the game battling injuries and illness in their ranks. Cardiff will be without striker Ross McCormack who is expected to be out for two months with a hamstring injury. On the plus side, Cardiff are hopeful that Stephen McPhail and Mark Kennedy will be able to rejoin the team after missing Tuesday's victory over Plymouth with injuries. Bristol City aren't even certain of their lineup yet as they have been struck hard by injury. Louis Carey and Cole Skuse are going to be last minute decisions due to lingering calf injuries and striker Andrius Velicka is out for the season after suffering an ACL injury. Several other unnamed players on the Bristol squad are doubtful because they are battling illness.

Both teams will be eager to walk away from Sunday's derby match with a victory and all three points to stay atop the table. A victory for either side will thin out the pack at the top; however a draw between the two would accomplish the same end.
