Burnley will be looking to claim points against another top club at home when they host Arsenal on Wednesday in the Barclay's Premier League. The Clarets are enjoying a successful return to the top flight this season and currently sit 13th in the league table. The Clarets have been a different team at home this season, claiming points against some of England's top clubs at home. Manchester United and Everton have suffered defeats at Turf Moor this season while other sides like Fulham and Aston Villa have had to settle for draws. Burnley remains undefeated at home this season and will welcome an Arsenal side that appears rejuvenated in recent weeks. Kickoff between the two is set for 19:45 local time at Turf Moor in Burnley, England. Game is live from Canal+ Sport TV channel.
Burnley played out a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor at the weekend when they hosted Fulham. After a goalless first half, the teams exchanged goals in a 10 minute span early in the second half to end in a 1-1 draw. Bobby Zamora struck first for Fulham, putting the visiting Cottagers ahead 1-0. Wade Elliot fired back for Burnley in the 59th minute though to equalise and force a draw, salvaging an important point for the Clarets. Arsenal was on the road against Liverpool at the weekend in a clash of Big Four sides. Dirk Kuyt had fired Liverpool in front just before halftime with a clean rebound finish in the 40th minute. Shortly after the break however, Liverpool defender Glen Johnson directed an Arsenal cross into his own net in the 50th minute to pull the Gunners level at 1-1. A few moments later Andrey Arshavin collected the ball at the top of the Reds box and fired a shot in off the post to put Arsenal in front 2-1 for good. Arsenal's offensive burst at the beginning of the second half was against the run of play of the majority of the match but proved enough to earn the Gunners an important three points.
Burnley must be wishing they could play all their matches at home this season as their travels in the Premier League have been brutal affairs this season. Despite claiming points at home against Manchester United, Everton, Fulham, and Aston Villa, the Clarets lost back to back matches on the road in recent weeks against West Ham United and Portsmouth. Both West Ham and Portsmouth have been in the relegation zone most, if not all, of the 2009/10 campaign to date. Arsenal continues to defy critics, proving that it still has what it takes to challenge Chelsea and Manchester United for the Premier League title this season. Just three weeks ago Arsenal was 11 points behind first place Chelsea after losing 3-0 to the Blues at home, but now the Gunners find themselves just six points behind the Blues after two victories.
Arsenal will be looking to collect maximum points this weekend to try and keep pace with and apply pressure to Manchester United and Chelsea at the top of the table. Burnley will be keen to take maximum points from the Gunners at Turf Moor considering four of their next six league matches are on the road.
