Birmingham City, back in the top flight after a one year absence, will play host to one of the sides that replaced them for the 08/09 season. Saturday's match will be held at St. Andrew's Ground at 15:00 local time. It has been 21 years since the Potters have won at St. Andrews where Birmingham was beaten only once in the 07/08 Premier League season.

Stoke City opened their 09/10 Barclay's Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Burnley but were thrashed in the midweek by Liverpool 4-0. Stoke surprised a lot of fans last season by finishing respectably in the middle of the table last season. In their second consecutive season in the top flight they look to improve on that standing. Birmingham City opened with a tough loss, 1-0, to Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Blues bounced back however in the midweek thanks to a late penalty against Portsmouth, picking up the 1-0 victory.

Birmingham City aim to remain in the Premier League after this recent promotion and in the offseason manager Alex McLeish brought in nine new faces to bolster the Blues roster. McLeish however believes more players are necessary if the team is going to be strong enough to tackle the Premier League. Birmingham's latest signing is French defender Gregory Vignal from FC Lens. Stoke meanwhile are searching to add to their squad as well. Stoke manager Tony Pulis is currently chasing five targets he wants signed before the close of the transfer window. So far the Potters have added only midfielder Dean Whitehead from Sunderland.

Both teams will be anxious to snatch all three points with a victory and establish themselves on solid footing to start the Premier League season.
