The Gunners will play host Saturday to struggling Portsmouth at the Emirates Stadium at 15:00 local time. Arsenal come into the match looking to prove they still belong in the "Big Four" while Portsmouth hope to avoid gaining no points in their opening three fixtures of the season.

Arsenal is firing on all cylinders to open the season. They opened the Barclay's Premier League with a textbook demolition of Everton 6-1 on the road. Portsmouth meanwhile has yet to find the back of the net having lost 1-0 at home to Fulham last weekend and 1-0 to Birmingham City on the road in the midweek.

The Gunners took their act on the road in the midweek, defeating Celtic FC 2-0 in Champions League qualifying. Portsmouth is a team on the brink. Pompey cannot seem to find the back of the net as the team has not scored a goal on the road since March of last season. Even worse, Portsmouth is winless against Arsenal dating back to March 1958.

Both teams have a lot to gain from a win, and Portsmouth has a lot to lose if they are defeated. A win for Arsenal helps them keep pace in the early going at the top of the table. Portsmouth needs a win, or at least a point, to avoid starting the season with zero points from three games. After just barely staying up in the Premier League at the end of last season, Portsmouth needs to avoid settling into the cellar so early in the season. It's a long season, but that is a moral blow that needs to be avoided this early.
