It will be a battle of top versus bottom on Saturday in the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League when Celtic play host to the Hamilton Accies. The Bhoys come into the weekend with a five point lead over their heated rival Rangers, who two matches in hand over Celtic. Hamilton have been woeful this year in the Scottish Premier League, collecting 15 points to date and have not won a Premier League match since 30 October. Kickoff between the two is set for 15:00 local time at Celtic Park in Glasgow, Scotland. Celtic’s last match was a hotly contested Scottish Cup replay match against Rangers at Celtic Park during the midweek. The match featured more heated exchanges between players and coaches than it did goals, as Celtic managed a 1-0 victory over their Glasgow rivals. There were a total of 13 yellow cards shown during the match and three Rangers players were shown red and sent off. Celtic manager Neil Lennon had heated exchanges not only with Rangers’ players before halftime, but also with Rangers assistant Ally McCoist at the conclusion of the match. Hamilton’s last outing was an all too typical 2-1 loss to Hibernian. Hibs scored one goal in each half before Hamilton nabbed a consolation goal deep in stoppage time, falling 2-1 in the process. The loss was the 16th of the season for Hamilton who have just two wins to date. The last time these two sides met, Hamilton nearly nabbed a critical victory over the Bhoys. A late penalty in the second minute of stoppage time earned Celtic a 1-1 draw after they trailed for the vast majority of the match. Since that match in mid-January, Hamilton have drawn three matches and lost six. Neil Lennon and Celtic have recently accepted a four match touchline ban for the manager following an altercation with the fourth official in a November match against Hearts. Lennon is likely to face further disciplinary action following his confrontations with Rangers players and coaches in this week’s Cup match. Both sides will be looking to collect all three points from Saturday’s match with a victory. Celtic need all three points to keep Rangers at bay as the Gers could move within two points should Celtic lose and Rangers defeat near bottom St. Mirren on Sunday. Hamilton’s slim hopes of survival could be boosted with a victory and a St. Mirren loss on Sunday against Rangers. The top of the table will meet the bottom of the table on Wednesday in the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League when Celtic pay a visit to Hamilton. Celtic enter the match riding a seven match unbeaten run in the Scottish Premier League that stretches back to November 14th. During that stretch the Bhoys collected four wins and three draws, including wins in their last three consecutive matches, all shutouts. Kickoff between the two is set for 19:45 local time at New Douglas Park in Hamilton, Scotland. Hamilton enter Wednesday evening’s match having not won since October 30th. The Accies are alone at the bottom of the table on 11 points, five points from the nearest side. Hamilton managed to give their supporters something to cheer about over the weekend however, defeating Scottish division two side Alloa 2-0 in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday. Hamilton took a 1-0 halftime lead with a 33rd minute goal, but did not wrap up the match until the third minute of stoppage time when they added a second goal. Celtic continued their top form with an away victory in the Scottish Cup over the weekend against Scottish division three side Berwick. The Bhoys scored early in the 17th minute and late in the 82nd minute to secure a routine 2-0 victory to advance to the next round in the Cup. Celtic have risen to the top of the Scottish Premier League in recent weeks on the strength of good form and a 2-0 victory over their bitter rival Rangers. It’s not all roses for Celtic however, manager Neil Lennon has been handed a six match touchline ban by the Scottish FA. Lennon has been charged with excessive misconduct stemming from a sending off in November during a 2-0 defeat against Hearts. Lennon had an altercation on the sideline during the match with the fourth official. Celtic are appealing the ban which would take effect January 18th and leave him absent from the sideline when Celtic face Rangers in the Scottish Cup in early February. Both sides will be looking for a victory on Wednesday to improve their standing in the Scottish Premier League. Celtic can move seven points clear of Rangers with a victory, a buffer they will need given Rangers will hold three matches in hand by the end of the night. Hamilton appear to have little hope of surviving to play next season the Premier League, but a victory today could spark a turn around. Celtic's hopes of catching Rangers at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League are fading quickly, leaving the Bhoys in need of a victory this weekend as they travel to face Hamilton on Saturday. Celtic suffered a devastating 2-1 defeat at home last weekend against third place Hibernian that allowed Rangers, with their victory, to stretch their lead atop the table to 10 points. Hamilton have struggled recently losing four of their last six fixtures in the Scottish Premier League while winning just one and drawing one. Kickoff between the two is set for 12:30 local time at New Douglas Park in Hamilton, Scotland. Hamilton and Kilmarnock fought out a goalless draw during the midweek in a match of two of the Scottish Premier League's struggling sides. The Accies lost their captain, Alex Neil to an injury during warmups, setting the tone for a lifeless match. Neither side was able to create many chances on goal, with Mark Burchill forcing a fine save from Accies goalie Tomas Cerny in the best chance of the match. Mickael Antoine-Curier had a late chance to give Hamilton the win but could not convert as the two sides shared the points. Celtic lost 2-1 at home during the midweek to a solid Hibernian side that is now third in the league table. The Bhoys got off to a good start when Marc-Antoine Fortune scored in just the fifth minute of the match, but Hibs would equalise Anthony Stokes in the 26th minute. Just as the match appeared headed for a draw, Hibs stole all three points with a goal in the second minute of stoppage time to win 2-1. Hamilton captain Alex Neil's injury picked up during warm up for their midweek match with Kilmarnock could miss out when the Accies host Celtic this weekend. Mikael Antoine-Curier is also a question mark for Hamilton while Joel Thomas, who has rejoined Hamilton on loan from Colchester, could be in the squad if the paperwork is completed on time. Celtic will have Landry N'Guemo back in their squad after Cameroon was eliminated from the African Cup of Nations. The Bhoys will however be without Dutch defender Glenn Loovens who missed the midweek loss to Hibernian as well. Celtic need a win if they are going to keep Rangers within striking distance. The Bhoys still hold a match in hand over the Gers, and if Celtic win this weekend and Rangers lose then the Bhoys could cut Rangers lead to just four points with a midweek win next week. Hamilton find themselves just three points above last place Falkirk and just two points above second from bottom Kilmarnock. If the Accies want to avoid falling farther down the table they needs points from every match they play.
